


This is a seasonal position.
An excellent opportunity to work in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, learning field techniques and skills pertaining to a wide variety of citizen science projects, including moth inventories, bird banding, salamander surveys, water mite collections, and tree identification.
Responsibilities: Work in all aspects of collecting, analyzing, and summarizing field data. The job requires working during uncomfortable weather, including hot, humid days and even during rain. Hiking in the backcountry is expected, including hikes over six miles in length. Some laboratory, microscope, and computer work required. Intern will be expected to write summaries of research for newsletter. Interns will work 10 weeks, 30 hours per week.
Qualifications: Energetic, enthusiastic, and committed individuals who have an interest in science and natural history. Applicants must be 16 or older. Applicants must be a junior or senior in high school or a current undergraduate in college. Applicants must have transportaion to and from work. Tremont does not provide housing for Summer Research Interns. Interns will be expected to take Basic First Aid and CPR upon arrival, if they do not have current certification.
Stipend and Benefits: Tremont will provide meals during work hours. Interns will receive a stipend of $210/week
