BirdSleuth Educator Workshop
February 2, 2018 - February 4, 2018| $50
Tremont is delighted to partner with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to offer an educator workshop February 2-4, 2018. We will target motivated teachers in the southeast region, with a special emphasis on teachers in Tennessee.
This exclusive workshop includes top-notch instruction and resources provided by Cornell Lab and the best of inquiry-based, student-driven experiential education training by Tremont Institute.
We will practice teaching skills, participate in powerful citizen science projects, engage in discussion, and brainstorm methods for successful implementation, all while living and learning inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The workshop will focus on inspiring teachers to observe and document birds and their behavior with their students. Birds are readily observable wildlife for most schools, and teaching students to notice and appreciate their beauty and complexity can improve their interest in learning and their understanding of and investment in scientific investigation.
Educators will leave this workshop armed with tools, curriculum resources, bird feeders, organic fertilizer to support school gardens, and inspiration to spend more time learning outside alongside their students.
Cost: $50 per teacher. Space is limited. A maximum of three teachers per school may register. Classroom teachers (5th grade through 12th grade) living in the southeast region are encouraged to register.
Please note: Online registration forms also serve as your health and wavier form which includes medical information. Please allow 20-30 minutes to complete the online form and have your information ready. All fields must be completed.
