All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory
The All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory, or ATBI, is a gigantic and exciting project underway in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Scientists, park managers, educators, and students are all working together to help inventory and map the distribution of all the estimated 100,000 species in the park. Everything from algae to mammals is under investigation! Right now, we probably only know less than 15% of the species that occur in the park, so there's a lot of work to be done.
