Bird Banding Study
(Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship)
| MAPS is a continent-wide effort to monitor breeding bird populations, with a goal of better understanding how breeding habitats affect bird populations. Fine mesh mist nets for the capture and banding of breeding birds are opened for eight mornings each summer at two locations in the park: Purchase Knob and Tremont. The data is used to monitor their year to year survival and reproduction. Captured birds are also examined for ectoparasites for the ATBI. |
