Financial Aid
Thanks to generous donors, financial aid is available for students who are unable to pay full cost. To apply for financial aid, download the Financial Aid Application form. This form should be filled out completely for each individual requesting financial aid. The lead teacher should collect all applications and submit them to us at the same time. We cannot offer full financial aid, so a portion must be paid by the individual or raised in another manner. Requests should be sent at least six weeks before your scheduled trip. The lead teacher will receive a letter indicating the amount of aid we can grant based on the total request.

Discounts and Pre-trip Teacher Workshops
Discounted rates are available when teachers attend pre-visit training.
A pre-trip visit allows you to feel more comfortable and knowledgeable about programs, trails, and facilities when you bring your students, and gives us time to work together to develop a program customized to your particular goals. Teachers who participate in one of the following workshops will receive a full waiver of their personal program fee for their school trip and the entire group will be eligible for the discounted rate. Some of these workshops can be taken for college credit and/or may be able to count as teacher in-service hours.
If you are unable to attend a workshop this year, we still encourage you to be our guest for a day to observe lessons. We will give you a tour, help you plan your trip, and allow you to shadow classes of the current school in residence. Spending this time here would make your school eligible to come at the reduced rate.
Please note, all workshop discounts are non-transferable to other teachers and are limited to one adult per 10 students attending with the school group. Please call if you wish to arrange a visit or would like to discuss other pre-planning alternatives.

Funding for Community Artisans
(Evening Presenters – Arts)
2007-2008 School Year
Statement of Purpose
Funding is now available to school groups who wish to host a visiting artist (evening presenter) at Tremont during the 2006-2007 school year. Our Community Artisan Fund is possible thanks to a generous grant from the Avent Cabin Endowment. This program is a part of our larger Arts Initiative that seeks to increase the presence of the arts in our programs.
How Can My School Take Part?
1. PLAN – Decide which Community Artisan you want to present during your school trip to Tremont. See application for list of Artisan presenters. You’ll notice familiar names plus a few that may be new to you.
2. APPLY – A short application (Application Form, PDF) must be completed and submitted well in advance of your trip and includes a section asking you to justify your request. See link below
Any school visiting Tremont during the 2007-2008 school year is welcome to apply. However, we especially encourage schools that have struggled in the past to fund evening presenters, or schools that are struggling now.
Important!
- Tremont commits to paying no less than half the costs of an evening presenter if your request is accepted.
- Funds will be dispersed on a first-come/first-serve basis until funds run out, so send your application in early!
- Submitting your application at least 8 weeks prior to your school trip (except in early Fall) allows us to make decisions and get back to you in a timely manner. It also allows you time to make alternative plans. Requests for some presenters, such as Sparky & Rhonda Rucker require even greater notice.
- The planning process for your Tremont trip coincides with the application and review process for your request for funds. Do not wait to create your schedule until you hear back about funding! Please submit your “Schedule Request form” as usual along with an alternative choice of presenters in case funding is not available.
