March 14 | $90 | Register Now
Be among the very first to learn, explore, and connect at Tremont’s second campus in Townsend. Seasons of Connection is a limited series of hands-on workshops for adults, led by Tremont’s expert educators. Discover new skills, deepen your relationship with the land, and help shape the future of Tremont’s newest campus.
Learn the art of navigating by map and compass as you explore the forests and ridges of our Townsend campus with Kathleen Reilly, Tremont’s field programs specialist. We’ll cover the basics of taking bearings, reading topographic maps, and interpreting the landscape, and then put those skills to the test on a guided orienteering challenge.
Expect 3–5 miles of hiking, including some off-trail travel over uneven terrain. By day’s end, you’ll have the skills – and the confidence – to find your way in new landscapes.
Registration includes all course materials. Bring your own lunch. The class will take place on Tremont’s second campus property in Townsend, adjacent to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
