Spend a weekend recharging in the Smokies on a three-day, two-night backpacking trip designed for adventurous women. Program Highlights
- Three-day, two-night women’s backpacking adventure in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
- Beginner-friendly with supportive guidance, yet physically and mentally rewarding
- Evenings around the campfire, sharing stories and building community
- Leave with lasting confidence, new friendships, and skills for future backcountry adventures
Join two experienced naturalist guides and discover the beauty of Great Smoky Mountains National Park firsthand. Our naturalists provide the tools you need to succeed, including ‘how-to’ instruction, permits, food, transportation to and from the trail, and group equipment (tents, cooking gear, backpacks, and sleeping pads). They’ll also share extensive knowledge of the Smokies ecosystem along the way. All you need is a desire for adventure, a willingness to learn, personal clothing, and a sleeping bag. We hope that you will leave feeling accomplished and ready to continue exploring the mountains on your own.
No prior backpacking experience is required, but participants should be prepared to carry a 40-pound pack for 5–8 miles a day over rugged, mountainous terrain. The route is different every year and there is no easy terrain in the Smoky Mountains. You can expect moderate difficulty and total mileage between 15-20 miles over the weekend.
What can you expect? We’ll start our trip at Tremont, where we’ll help you pack your gear, review the route, and meet your fellow adventurers. After breakfast the next morning, we’ll hit the trail. Day one typically covers up to 5 miles, leaving time to relax at camp. Day two may be longer — 6 to 8 challenging miles through mountainous terrain. On our final day, we’ll hike 5 to 7 miles, usually on easier terrain, before returning to Tremont with time for showers and goodbyes.
It’s a challenge — but one that leaves you with memories, confidence, and outdoor skills that last a lifetime.
Registration includes instruction, food, and lodging in our dorm inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
