Summer Community Science Intern
This summer position provides an opportunity to work with a nationally recognized residential experiential education institute while living in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Especially appropriate for someone who would like to gain entry-level experience in experiential education, teaching techniques, natural history and scientific research skills. Tremont strives for a learning and working environment that values diversity, access, inclusion, and equity.
Responsibilities: Assist in implementing summer residential camp programs for youth including: facilitating nature experiences and adventures; lesson planning and curriculum development; overnight supervision of campers; co-leading hikes; and co-leading backpacking or canoe trips. Conduct an independent research investigation and share findings with Community Science team and broader GRSM community.
Qualifications: Energetic, enthusiastic, and committed individual interested in professional training and development in experiential education and community science in a summer camp setting. Committed to the social and emotional development of young people. Values diversity, inclusion and equity in a residential education setting. Have the proven ability to work with people, can follow through on assignments, be detail-oriented. Two years or more of college (or commensurate experience) required. Prior experience working with children strongly preferred.
Compensation: Housing, meals, uniform, and a stipend of $190/week.
