The <\/span>John Thurman Smoky Mountain Trout Adventure Camp promotes an appreciation of cold-water conservation by teaching campers the sport of fly fishing in mountain streams. All planned activities are aimed at developing campers\u2019 knowledge and skills that pertain to fly fishing. Activities include instruction from experts in fly casting, tying flies that attract fish, how to fish mountain streams, and fishing trips with experienced mountain stream mentors. Science-based activities that pertain to fishing in mountain streams include catching and identifying aquatic invertebrates that trout eat and how they are duplicated with flies used in fishing, live-trapping and identifying fish that live in Smoky Mountains streams, catching and identifying flying bugs that form part of a trout\u2019s diet, and observing fish in their natural environment by snorkeling in a mountain stream.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
