This is an excellent opportunity to work year-round with a caring team of educators and operations staff inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Grounds and Facilities Assistant helps care for Tremont’s campus and equipment, ensuring our facilities remain safe, clean, and welcoming for all guests and staff. This role supports the overall function of the Institute through maintenance, repair, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related systems.

Briefly, responsibilities include the following (more details listed in the position description):

  • Maintain facilities and grounds through regular cleaning, repair, and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and outdoor spaces.
  • Execute janitorial duties, including cleaning restrooms, washing floors and windows, restocking supplies, and removing trash.
  • Assist with basic carpentry, painting, and light construction projects to improve and maintain Tremont’s infrastructure.
  • Safely operate various tools and equipment, including mowers, blowers, and small power tools.
  • Support general operations by helping with event setup, laundry, recycling, and other manual tasks as needed.
  • Prioritize safety by following established procedures and maintaining a safe environment for all.
  • Communicate effectively and contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace.
