Explore the wild side of the Smokies during an adventure like no other. During this 6-day, 5-night canoe expedition, you’ll camp in the woods, paddle to remote locations, and participate in scientific research on the biodiversity of the Smoky Mountains. This may include documentation of diverse species in support of the All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory, an ambitious project led by Discover Life in America that aims to document all of the estimated 60-80,000 species found in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. All the while, you’ll have a blast as you canoe with new friends, swim in beautiful water, make meals by the campfire, and immerse yourself in nature.

Butterflies, beetles, birds, and botany will be just a few of the subjects of our investigations as we explore the creeks and hollows in search of the next organism. Maybe you’ll find a species that’s new to the park — or even to science!

Registration includes food, camping supplies, and instruction inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Ages: 13–17
Cost: $930
