Discovery Camp is where kids go to be kids — curious, adventurous, and full of wonder. Set inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this overnight summer camp gives children the chance to unplug from screens, breathe fresh mountain air, and spend a week exploring the outdoors in a safe, supportive environment.
Each day brings new adventures: searching for salamanders in cool, shaded streams, collecting insects from forest floors, feeling the spray of a waterfall, or hiking along mountain trails. Afternoons often end at the swimming hole, followed by evenings of laughter around the campfire — singing songs, roasting s’mores, and sharing stories with new friends.
But Discovery Camp is more than just play. Campers gain confidence as they try new things, from learning outdoor skills to observing wildlife closely and recording their discoveries. With guidance from Tremont’s caring, experienced staff, kids push boundaries safely and return home with not just memories, but new abilities and a deeper connection to the natural world.
Parents can rest assured that their child is supported by a team that prioritizes both safety and joy. Lodging is supervised by attentive staff, meals are hearty and kid-friendly, and the program is structured to balance active exploration with rest. While every day is packed with adventure, the biggest takeaway is often friendship — many campers leave Discovery Camp with bonds that last long after the week is over.
