Our Ideal Applicant: We are seeking a talented individual to help care for our beloved campus facilities inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This person will play a key role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all Tremont visitors.
Briefly, responsibilities include the following (more details listed in the position description):
- Manages general maintenance work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities in a timely, cost-effective manner
- Manages general grounds maintenance tasks, such as mowing grass, trimming shrubbery, raking leaves, shoveling snow, picking up and disposing of debris/litter, and checking buildings and grounds for potential fire hazards.
- Ensures various custodial tasks such as cleaning restroom areas, vacuuming/sweeping floors, mopping floors, cleaning windows and walls, cleaning woodwork and light fixtures, replenishing soap and paper supplies, or emptying trash receptacles are completed based on programmatic needs.
- Ensures vehicles, equipment, and tools are properly maintained, including inspecting equipment, refueling vehicles, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, and washing/cleaning vehicles.
- Manages a team of maintenance staff and volunteers in completing tasks; coordinate and liaise between GSMIT and National Park Facilities staff.
- Develops annual Facilities budget with input from the organization and in coordination with management. Maintains an inventory of equipment.
