This Giving Tuesday, November 28, we asked for the support of our community and they showed up in record numbers! Thanks to the support and gifts of over 120 individuals, we raised over $64,000 in a single day – that’s more individual donors than any previous Giving Tuesday at Tremont! Special thanks to Bill and Susan Varner for providing the $20,000 match that boosted our fundraising efforts.

Donations will support Tremont’s GO Fund, which supports all areas of Tremont’s work. Funds may be used to provide financial assistance for campers and school groups, tools and materials to keep facilities safe and clean, nutritious meals for guests, training and development for staff, and much more.

Giving Tuesday has become an annual celebration at Tremont, and we use the day as an opportunity to share the many facets of our work through engaging and educational livestreams. We started the day with sunrise by the Middle Prong, learned about some of our favorite Smokies wildlife, got a glimpse of Tremont’s future, explored the lore of Walker Valley Cemetery, and sang songs by candlelight. Folks were also able to take part in exciting virtual challenges, supported by United Way’s The Big Give Knox, which could amplify an individual donor’s gift. Thanks to our incredible supporters rising up to the challenge when we asked, we were awarded the Big Give’s Rush Hour Prize – a $500 bonus for raising the most money online in the 7-8am hour.

Once again, thank you to all of our friends and supporters for caring about our mission to connect people with nature – today and throughout the year. You are what makes Tremont so special – we hope to see you on campus again soon. Thank you!

On behalf of all the Tremont staff and with the help of our friends at South Knoxville Elementary, we’d like to say thank you:
