Becoming a winter tree identification enthusiast is a rewarding adventure, offering a new perspective on the world around you during the colder months. Through expert instruction and guidance, you’ll not only gain the ability to recognize trees in winter but also deepen your connection with the natural world in every season.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a unique set of skills that allow you to appreciate the silent beauty of winter forests in a whole new way. Whether you’re a budding naturalist or a seasoned explorer, we welcome you to embrace the chill and join us in this winter tree identification journey.

This single-day program takes place inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is perfect for Southern Appalachian Naturalist Certification Program participants and graduates, as well as anyone who is interested in further developing their naturalist skills.

Registration includes instruction, food, and lodging in our dorm inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
