With increasing visitor traffic and recent extreme weather, the trail is in need of major upgrades to ensure its safety, accessibility, and natural beauty for years to come. To support this effort, Tremont Institute intends to apply for the Recreational Trails Program grant through Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation's Office of Outdoor Recreation—and we want to hear from YOU!

Volunteer Work Day is a long-standing tradition at Tremont Institute, and you're invited to join! Volunteers should expect to arrive by 9am to help with a variety of projects on Tremont's campus. Mid-day, we'll take break with a hearty lunch, and then we'll wrap up by 3pm.

Meet the Tremont staff and learn about the many ways we connect people with nature—and see how you can get involved! You’ll get an inside look at the work we’re doing with visitors to the Smokies and the work taking place in our surrounding communities. You’ll learn about our community science programs, volunteer opportunities, youth and adult programs, second campus, and much more.

Take a journey through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with speaker Jeremy Lloyd, Manager and expert of Field & Collegiate Studies at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. Join us on August 4 in the Main Gallery of Blount County Public Library from 6-7pm for this free talk.

Enjoy a beautiful evening of celebration at Marblegate Farm in Friendsville, Tennessee, in support of Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. This event will be filled with fantastic food and drink, fun music and activities, and plenty of wonderful conversations as our friends and supporters join in honor of Tremont’s mission and future.

Join us for a week of creativity and color as 19 nationally acclaimed plein air artists paint the Great Smoky Mountains and the surrounding region. This annual event features awards juried by renowned artist Charlie Hunter.
